The economic-institutional mission to Belgrade, organized by the Northeast Italy Internationalization System, concluded successfully, bringing together approximately fifty institutional and business representatives from Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, and the Autonomous Province of Trento. Held on December 2-3, 2025, the mission provided a vital platform for dialogue between the Triveneto economic system and Serbian institutions, with the aim of enhancing bilateral cooperation and creating new opportunities for Italian businesses.
Institutional Meetings and Plenary Session: The Italian delegation was received by the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, who emphasized: “The historical and economic relations between Italy and Serbia are fundamental and strategic. Northeast Italy, in particular, is a privileged partner for our country.” The plenary session was attended by Serbian Prime Minister Miloš Vučević, who assured the full support of the Serbian Government for advancing bilateral economic developments.
Alessandro Minon, President of Finest S.p.A., stated: “The mission aims to create immediate opportunities for businesses from Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto, and the Autonomous Province of Trento through business matching with Serbian companies, identifying opportunities linked to Expo Belgrade 2027, and fostering innovation and research collaborations.”
On the sidelines of the event, Fabio Scoccimarro, Regional Minister for Environment, Energy, and Sustainable Development of Friuli Venezia Giulia, representing Governor Massimiliano Fedriga, added: “I conveyed to President Vučić the opportunity for Friuli Venezia Giulia to serve as a bridge connecting Central Europe and Serbia, fostering collaboration to drive further growth in industrial and commercial relations with Belgrade. As a Region, we support this cooperation through regulations and potential resource allocations.”
Italy’s Ambassador to Belgrade, Luca Gori, remarked: “Northeast Italy is the beating heart of our entrepreneurial presence in Serbia, serving as a catalyst for our bilateral economic cooperation. The size of the delegation in Belgrade underscores this strong connection.”
Signing of the Letter of Intent: A highlight of the mission was the signing of a Letter of Intent among key internationalization stakeholders to support Italian businesses in Serbia, formalized during a reception hosted by the Italian Ambassador in Belgrade. The signatories included:

Focus on Expo Belgrade 2027 and Innovation: The mission placed significant emphasis on opportunities related to Expo Belgrade 2027, viewed as a strategic showcase for Italian businesses, as well as the potential of innovation and research sectors. Part of the delegation was hosted by the Serbian Ministry of Finance to explore collaboration opportunities for Triveneto companies.Mission ConclusionThe initiative reaffirmed the strategic role of the Northeast Italy Internationalization System, established in 2019, as a model of excellence for promoting economic cooperation and supporting the growth of Italian businesses in foreign markets.
